Marion County Public Schools pays a Salary Supplement to Instructional employees with an advanced degree who meet the criteria below.
Advanced Degree Supplements
- Master’s Degree $2,500
- Master's +36 $4500
- Specialist Degree $4,500
- Doctoral Degree $6,500
Criteria
- If you have earned an
advanced degree with a major listed in the Guide to Acceptable Majors for Educator
Certification Specialization* and hold certification coverage that corresponds to it, you may be eligible for the supplement.
- If you hold an advanced degree from an accredited College of Education and hold certification coverage that aligns with the advanced degree (e.g., Master's in Teaching Science and a Certification in Biology), you may be eligible for the supplement.
- If you are eligible for the Master’s degree supplement, and have completed an additional 36 graduate credit hours in a single course of study, you may be eligible for the Master’s +36 supplement.
The supplement’s effective date would be according to these provisions:
- The supplement will be effective on the employee’s first day of work in the current school year, if the degree’s conferred date was prior to the current school year.
- If the degree is conferred during the school year, the supplement will be effective on the next business day after the degree’s conferred date.
- If a subject area was added to a Florida Educator Certificate, the supplement will be effective on the date that the subject area was added to the certificate.

Note: In order to receive an Advanced Degree Supplement, your degree must be conferred.
