How to Become a Paraeducator

Complete the steps below:

1. Meet the eligibility requirements. To be eligible to fill a paraeducator position you must meet at least one of the following requirements:

   1. Earn at least 60 college credits from an accredited college or university or

   2. Hold at least an AA or AS degree from an accredited college or university or

   3. Hold a High School Diploma or equivalent, and earn a passing score of at least 464 on the ParaPro Assessment. (The ParaPro Assessment measures skills and knowledge in reading, mathematics, and writing.)

2. Search MCPS openings by visiting MCPS Openings.

3. View the position details.

4. Apply and submit your online employment application.

• You will need to provide verification of meeting the requirements (e.g., ParaPro Assessment Results, official transcript).
