What is Emergency Management?
Responding to and managing emergencies and disasters that affect the students and staff of Marion County Public Schools or the citizens of Marion County in general. This includes planning and preparedness work done in advance of disasters as well as with response and recovery efforts during and after an event. This encompasses working closely with other agencies during all events that are caused naturally or that are manmade. They include such things as hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, technological accidents and terrorism. Marion County Public Schools provides vital resources to Marion County Emergency Management, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion County Health Department and the City of Ocala. These resources include school shelters, school buses for evacuations and staff to manage these resources.
