When a difficult or traumatic event affects a school, our Crisis Response Team is here to help. These teams include school counselors, school psychologists, and school social workers. Their main goal is to support students, staff, and families during and after a crisis.
The team focuses on helping students cope with the emotional and mental health effects that may come with a challenging event. Because every situation is different, support is tailored to meet the specific needs of the school and community.
Examples of School Crises
A crisis may include:
- The death of a student, staff member, or community member that impacts the school
- A major event like a fire or flood
- Any situation that threatens student safety, such as a bus accident (even without injuries)
- Events that cause fear or emotional distress, such as threats shared on social media
