Melissa Conner serves as the Executive Director of K–12 Academics for Marion County Public Schools, leading the district’s comprehensive academic and curriculum programs. A proud product of Marion County Public Schools, she has dedicated more than 20 years to advancing high-quality instruction and rigorous learning experiences for all students.
Mrs. Conner began her career as a classroom teacher before serving as an Assistant Principal, Principal, and District Administrator. Her work has consistently centered on instructional excellence, strong school leadership, and ensuring students have access to personalized learning pathways that support success after graduation.
In her current role, Mrs. Conner oversees all curriculum departments, including Early Learning, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Career and Technical Education, Fine Arts, Multilingual Services, and Physical Education. She also leads Professional Leadership and Learning, expanding professional development opportunities that strengthen instructional capacity and support staff across the district.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Conner has guided initiatives that improve academic outcomes, enhance curriculum coherence, and increase support for educators. She remains committed to collaborative, student-centered leadership and to advancing the district’s vision of academic excellence for each student.
