NEXT ROUND OF PRINCIPAL CHANGES ANNOUNCED FOR MARION SCHOOLS

MARION COUNTY – Marion County Public Schools Interim Superintendent Dr. Danielle Brewer announces the following administrative and principal changes, effective July 1, 2025, pending School Board approval:

• East Marion Elementary – Dr. John Pope is promoted from assistant principal to principal, marking his first principalship. He joined the district in 2011 and replaces Sarah Dobbs, who becomes principal at Oakcrest Elementary.
• Harbour View Elementary – Jennifer Pollard is promoted from assistant principal to principal, also her first time in the role. She has been with MCPS for 21 years and replaces Stacy Houston, who is voluntarily transitioning to a reading coach position at another school.
• Lake Weir Middle – Dr. Brian Greene returns to Marion County Public Schools and assumes the role of principal at this campus. He replaces Jason Jacobs, who becomes principal at Lake Weir High School.
• Madison Street Academy – Dr. John Kerley transitions to the district level as Director of Student Discipline. His replacement will be announced at a later date.

Earlier this month, Superintendent Dr. Brewer announced principal changes at six other schools: Belleview Middle, College Park Elementary, Forest High, Lake Weir High, Lake Weir Middle, and Oakcrest Elementary.

As a reminder, two new schools will open this August with previously announced inaugural principals:

• Ross Prairie Elementary – Principal LeAnn McEarchern
• Winding Oaks Elementary – Principal Traci Crawford
