BREWER CHOSEN FOR
INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT ROLE
MARION COUNTY – Marion County School Board members reached a consensus today to appoint Dr. Danielle Brewer as interim superintendent of Marion County Public Schools, effective this July.
Brewer currently serves MCPS as the senior executive director of High Schools and Secondary Curriculum. She emerged as the School Board’s top choice, earning the highest scores from individual interviews conducted by each Board member in accordance with Florida Sunshine laws.
Brewer began her career with MCPS in 2005 as a teacher. She advanced through the ranks, serving as an assistant principal and principal — most recently at North Marion High School. In 2021, she was named director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Digital Learning, and in 2023, she was promoted to her current executive leadership role.
She holds academic degrees in Criminal Justice and Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University, as well as an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree from National Louis University, where she also earned her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership.
On behalf of the entire School Board, Chair Lori Conrad will now work with the Board’s attorney to negotiate a contract with Brewer. That agreement is expected to be formally approved at a special School Board meeting on April 29, 2025, at 5:30 PM.
Brewer will begin working alongside current Superintendent Dr. Diane Gullett during a transition period and officially assume the interim superintendent role on July 12, 2025. She will succeed Dr. Gullett, the first appointed superintendent of MCPS, who is joining a national education consulting firm following her final day with MCPS on July 11, 2025.
Other candidates considered for the interim superintendent position included Donna Cress, Dr. Craig Ham, Dr. Anthony Hamlet, Melissa Kinard, Dr. Wayne Rodolfich, and Dr. Timothy Smith.
