MARION COUNTY – Marion County Public Schools is adopting new intervention materials for English Language Arts (Grades K-3) and Mathematics (Grades K-4). Public input is invited during an open review night scheduled for this Thursday, March 27.
That evening, members of the public can review potential intervention materials being considered by the district's adoption review committees for the next school year.
The viewing session will be held from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. in Building 20 at the Marion Technical Institute (MTI) campus, located at 392 SE 19th Ave. in Ocala.
The process already includes parents, teachers, and community members reviewing instructional materials. Course-specific committees can involve up to 15 voting members and one non-voting chair. The voting members include the content area program specialist, up to eight teachers, two parents, and five community members appointed by the Marion County School Board.
Following this public viewing, committee members will consider the public input at their meeting on March 31 at MTI in Building 2, Room 32 (English Language Arts K-3 Intervention Materials) and Building 2, Room 32A (Mathematics K-4 Intervention Materials), starting at 6 p.m. MTI is located at 1614 East Fort King St. in Ocala.
Committee members will also vote to recommend titles to the superintendent, who will then advance the recommendations to the Marion County School Board.
