Accelerated Reader (AR) is a computerized reading program which allows students to take tests on books and earn rewards as they reach goals. The AR Program provides teachers and children a fun and exciting way to promote reading at home and in the classroom.  AR quizzes can only be taken during school hours. The minimum score AR requires in order for the quiz to count toward a student’s goals is at least a 60% on 5- and 10-question quizzes and at least a 70% on 20-question quizzes. Students access AR through their desktop portal by clicking on the icon with a big R labeled Renaissance.

Different classes have different AR goals for their students. Students who achieve their goals will be recognized on the Wall of Fame with their name and school picture displayed during the morning announcements, as well as a small prize or certificate. Students who get on the Wall of Fame twice before the Spring Book Fair will receive a coupon for a free book ($6 or under) from the fair.
