Grading Policy
Mrs. Broaderick - Elementary Art 2023-2024 School Year
Special Area Grading Scale as reported by Marion County Public Schools (MCPS):
E - Excelling in grade level standards (scored entered in Skyward = 100-90)
M - Meeting grade level standards (score entered in Skyward = 89-70)
P - Progressing towards grade level standards (score entered in Skyward = 69-60)
NP - No Progression towards grade level standards (score entered in Skyward = 59-0)
*PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT the same as earning a score E, S, N, and U*
When determining a student's grade, the following is taken into consideration:
PARTICIPATION
Participation = any of the following:
- Listening during instruction
- Effort/Perserverance
- Staying on task
- Sharing ideas
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ARTWORK
Skills/Knowledge/Artwork = any of the following:
- Effort/Perserverance
- Work efficiency
- Technique (appropriate for age level and experience)
- Craftsmanship/Creativity (appropriate for age level and experience)
There will be a minimum of three grades recorded in each 9-week grading period. At least one will be recorded for Progress Reports.
Students will also earn a CONDUCT grade of E, S, N, or U. When determining a student's Conduct grade, the following is taken into consideration:
- Respect to his/her teacher AND art materials
- Kindness to others
- Good manners
- Follows classroom rules and especially our classroom procedures
Two types of Art Awards are given out to eligible students at the end of the school year; "Art Smart" for excellent behavior and "Young Artist Awards" for artistic potential.
