ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP)

  • Advanced Placement (AP), offered through the College Board, offers students the opportunity to earn college credits through advanced studies and AP exams. Accelerating through AP allows students to choose the courses and paths they want to study. Students can elect to take one or more AP classes begining freshman year, with an opportunity to earn college credit with each exam passed. Taking advanced courses like AP allows students to stand out to colleges on their transcript, demonstrating that they are motivated to succeed and willing to tackle and complete college-level work.

Advanced Placement courses are offered at Dunnellon High, Forest High, Lake Weir High, Vanguard High and West Port High schools, and cover a wide range of core subjects and electives.
