Career Planning Guide

  • Marion County Public School’s Career Planning Guide is a streamlined tool that teachers, counselors, and parents can utilize when talking and planning with students, from 7th grade through graduation and beyond. The Guide provides students the opportunity to identify and link interests to potential occupations, explore relevant post-secondary education providers, research local, state, and national employment trends, view potential salaries, and set goals for life after high school. The end results is each student choosing an “E” (enrollment, employment, or enlistment) for their future and provides guiding steps necessary to be ready for their chosen career path. The goal of the Guide is for 100% of Marion County’s students to leave high school with a well thought out, coordinated plan of what’s next, maximizing Return on Investment (ROI) for the students we have invested in for up to 13 years. We will use My Career Shines to house and facilitate our Career Planning Guide. My Career Shines will help us accomplish many of the components of HB 7071.
