    Major Concepts/Content:

    Spanish I introduces students to the target language and its culture. The student will develop communicative skills in all 3 modes of communication and cross-cultural understanding. Emphasis is placed on proficient communication in the language. An introduction to reading and writing is also included as well as culture, connections, comparisons, and communities.

     

     According to the 2020-2021  Student Handbok, students must take the intiative to make up their work when absent from school. Absent students: Remember to click on the teacher's web site, which will direct you to Microsoft Teams.  Students may make up work for full credit:  Students have ONE day to make up missed work for each day missed, up to three days.  Special arrangements with teachers must be made after an absence of more than three days.  No further extensions will be given. Extra credit is NOT an option.

      All students need to check their grades on the student portal  on a daily basis. CERTAIN assignments can be made up within a period of time determined by the teacher. Don't wait until it is too late. Due dates are very clearly marked on Microsoft Teams.

    Materials Needed:

    A textbook will be provided.  Students need to bring their notebook daily along with paper, pencil and pen. Bring a limited number of colored markers or pencils and a Spanish/English dictionary, if possible. (rather than purchasing a dictionary at a retail store, you might find one at the various Marion County Public Library sales)

     

    Grading/Evaluation:  The categories listed below are each worth 25% of the grade.
