• Classroom Response to COVID-19

According to the CDC and medical experts, having full-sized, enclosed, in-person classes where students are not spaced apart and mix between classes puts both the student and the staff members at the highest risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19.  In an attempt to lower that risk, we will adhere to the safety guidelines as outlined by the CDC as closely as we are allowed.

The CDD and medical experts recommend avoiding the three Cs: closed spaces, crowded places, and close contact.

The fact is that with a traditional face-to-face setting, we will not be able to avoid the three Cs.  Students will be in close contact (sitting less than 2 ft apart), students will be mixing with crowds between classes, and students will be sitting in a closed space for the duration of the class.  That doesn't mean that all hope is lost.  That means we all need to do our part and actively participate in wearing face coverings (masks).  With all students and the teacher wearing a face covering (no shield), the chances of spreading the virus is reduced to less than 1%.  The teacher will wear her mask to protect her students.  Each student will wear his/her mask to protect the other students.

Face Coverings will be worn at all times.  A “face covering” is a material that covers the nose and mouth and that fits snugly against the sides of the face so there are no gaps. Cloth face coverings protect other people in case the wearer is unknowingly infected but does not have symptoms.

Face coverings with respirators are prohibited.   The respirator releases the wear’s respiratory droplets into the air deeming them ineffective at protecting others from the spread.

A face shield may be worn in addition to a face covering.

Sanitary Supplies are limited and at times may not be immediately available.  Students are encouraged to bring his/her own personal supply.

Sharing of School Supplies will be strictly prohibited.  Students are required to arrive with the necessary supplies.  Please, contact guidance or the teacher if assistance is needed in obtaining supplies.
