• The goal of MCPS Online is to ensure that our students continuously feel connected to Vanguard High School and truly embrace being a Knight. We encourage MCPS Online families to read this content in its entirety.

    Getting Started
To view student schedules, log into your Skyward account on the student desktop – Select “Open Student Access” then click on the “Schedule” tab on the left-hand side. MCPS Online students will follow our bell schedule at home, including the lunchtime of their 3rd/4th period teacher. If you are registered for Period 18, this means 0 period that meets before the regular school day. Period 19 reflects a 7th period that meets after school. A period that has a course named "Virtual" is a placeholder period and is not an actual class.  Bell times are listed below, but are also attached here to include the breakdown of A and B days following our block schedule.

    0 Period 7:30-8:30, meets daily

    1st/2nd Period 8:35-10:25
    3rd/4th Period 10:32-12:55

    B Lunch 11:30-11:55

*7th Period (all other courses) 3:15-4:55, only on A days

Once you have your schedule, visit each teacher’s webpage on the Vanguard website under the Teacher Websites tab. Here, you’ll receive a brief introduction to the course, “meet” the teacher, and be directed to their online platform of either Microsoft Teams or Google Classroom. Both Teams and Google Classroom can be accessed through the student desktop. Students and parents can learn more about utilizing Microsoft Teams by watching the district tutorial.

    School Expectations
While receiving your education from the comfort of your home, our Knights are still expected to follow our school and district standards of behavior outlined in the Marion County Student Code of Conduct and the Vanguard Student Handbook. Failure to comply with school rules will result in disciplinary action. Our school-wide expectations lay a foundation for student success. Our Knights, no matter if they are on campus or at home, are expected to Be Ready, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible in all that they do.

Students participating in an online platform need to practice proper netiquette. As digital citizens of Vanguard High School, students will interact in respectful and professional communications with their instructors, peers, and support staff. While participating in MCPSonline, students have an opportunity to grow digital skills that can easily translate to postsecondary work – whether they choose to enroll in college, enlist in the military, or become employed. For more information on netiquette and guidelines for online learning, click here.

    Attendance Policies
Attendance requirements are unchanged in the online format. Students need to be signed into Microsoft Teams or Google Classroom promptly at the start of each period. Regular attendance and active participation are important for student achievement. Please review our full attendance policy in our Student Handbook. If you are absent from class for any reason, documentation should be emailed to our attendance clerk, Mrs. Lane, at Glorymar.Lane-Negron@marion.k12.fl.us.
