Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Joy Flack Avery

Here is where you get to learn a little about me. I am a native of Florida.  I spent Middle and High school in Georgia, however returned to Tallahassee for my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I started my career in North Miami at Norland Elementary. After five years, I moved my career to Orlando and opened Millenia Elementary. While in Orlando, I earned my Masters’ in Educational Media Science and Technology Design from Full Sail University.  Upon graduation, I met my husband in California, who was from Ocala, we married, and I moved to Ocala.   I have been living in Ocala for ten years with my husband, two children, and two cats. I received my Educational Specialist in 2017 and currently working on my Doctorate in Educational Technology.

I have been a part of the Osceola Team for 10 years, and teaching Television and Film Production. I enjoyed elementary teaching for ten years, however teaching Television and Film Production have allowed me to engage my passion and share it with others.  As a Career and Technical Educator, I am Silver Lead Compliant, Adobe Premiere Pro Certified, and hold 9 ICT Certifications.

My girls attend Eighth Street Elementary, First and Third Grade.  Our days run long and hard.  After school hours, my favorite thing to do is spend time with my girls. Both girls enjoy being active. The oldest is playing on all girls’ team for Premiere Academy! She mastered swimming this summer and would like to eventually be on a swim team.  The youngest enjoys soccer as well at Big Sun.  Hopefully, they can start CrossFit again.  I love to read, laugh, watch movies and snuggle with my children. I have a bad habit of predicting the end of movies or what will happen next.  Unfortunately, I have given away lots of movie secrets to my girls and they have become analytical viewers.  My favorite place to be is not at my house-I don’t have to clean or fold laundry when not at home!
