Microsoft Teams (MT) is an online management platform system where students can work closely with teachers and fellow students to work on assignments. Students can post assignments, collaborate with one another and participate in video chats, among other great enhancements to the learning environment. All students at Eighth St. Elementary will be using MT this year in and out of the classroom, as suggested by the Marion County School Board. I plan on spending the first several weeks of school teaching students how to access and use MT in class, BUT I will also be assigning work for students to complete on MT at home IF they have access to a computer and high-speed internet. Please make sure to complete the parent online survey as soon as possible (found on the teacher homepage of my website) so I can know what each of my student’s needs are!
In the meantime, Marion County Public Schools has produced a short video that explains to parents how students can access MT. I highly suggest that you watch it!
I also recommend, for parents who are unfamiliar with Microsoft Teams, to watch this 7-minute informative video here.
In closing, please know that I am excited to use MT during the school day and to extend my instruction this year! I hope that you and your student will find MT to be a great platform to use. Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have at any time this year!
