Meet The Teacher Video

Dear Fourth Grade Families,

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Ms. Hernandez and I am honored to be your child’s Fourth grade teacher. I am originally from North Carolina and received my undergraduate degree from High Point University. Upon completion, I began the Master’s program and earned my degree in elementary education/literacy. I have previously taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade as well. Also, serving as a reading specialist. I am looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching his or her full potential. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead.

Fourth grade is an exciting time as children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. This is a year of important transitions, as well as one in which acquisition of new skills is accelerated. During fourth grade, your child will develop higher level thinking in analyzing text, expand on their writing through various prompts and exercises, and learn to love reading as they explore many genres. I hope to make your child’s learning experience a fun and exciting one, and I hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child’s years of schooling.

I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time.  You can send me a note or email at or a message through the Class Dojo App. I will also do my part by sending out newsletters to update you on what we have been doing in class, as well as things that are up coming.

Please feel free to participate in your child’s fourth grade year as much as you are able. I am always looking for helping hands. Whether it is reading a story to the class, helping with field trips or class parties or any other activities that will enrich our classroom experiences.

I am looking forward to a wonderful and exciting year with you and your child!
