    Students will take an end of unit/summative quiz on "Text Features"

    1. Read (click link to access the reading passage) -Read- Frogs

    While reading- students will take note of the various text features on the page- title, labels, caption, illustration, heading, and words in bold print

    2. Quiz  (click link to access the quiz) -Text Features Quiz - Frogs

    Students will identify 3 text features from the passage and indicate how that feature is helpful when reading the text

    Students will then answer the 3 questions at the bottom of the page, in complete and neatly written sentences.

    The quiz will be graded and included as part of their "participation" grade for the week. If students have missed any online lessons, this will help bring this grade up for the week :)

    As this is an important skill for the student's to know for 2nd grade on up, please have them complete as much of the quiz as they can on their own. They should be able to identify the text features and indicate what they are used for with minimal or no assistance. The students  learned about text features while we were in the classroom and have used them often in classwork. The past 2 weeks have been a review of this skill :)

MATH - STANDARD - MAFS.1.G.1.1- Distinguish between defining attributes (eg. triangles are closed and 3 sided) versus non-defining attributes (eg. color, orientation, overall size). Build and draw shapes to possess defining attributes.

SOCIAL STUDIES - JOBS PEOPLE DO

  • THIS WEEK'S TASK FOR SOCIAL STUDIES (WEEK OF APRIL 27th - MAY 1st)

     

    SOCIAL STUDIES WEEKLY 1st Grade (accessible via desktop portal)

    1. Student will read week 28 "Jobs People Do". They will answer the questions on each page to earn coins to use when they play games. You will find the games available in the bottom of the left column. 

    The questions will help them recall facts from what they have read.

    Complete the "online quiz" at the end of the unit.

     

     

SCIENCE - Standards - SC.1.E.5.2 Explore the law of gravity by demonstrating that the Earth's gravity pulls any object on or near Earth toward it even though nothing is touching the object
