Keep up the great work. Mrs. Terry and I are here to help you with your school work. Although I have office hours 10:00 to 11:00 and 1:00 to 2:00, contact me any time with questions or help with instruction. My number is 352-320-5331 and my email is barbara.mcgraw@marion.K12.fl.us   My website: https://www.marionschools.net/Page/76270 Please look to the website for newsletters, links to educational websites, and lessons.

In order for students to earn grades for their work, I must see their work. I will be taking grades from

         Kick Start, Day 5

         Go Math Midchapter Check

         Writing assignment listed below

         Spelling Word Work

Daily Common Core ELA Practice, Day 5

You can send me evidence of their work by taking and sending me pictures and/or scheduling a Zoom meeting with me. Programs like i-Ready, Social Studies Weekly, MyOn, and StemScopes allow me to see students’ work so I will be able to get grades from those assignments without you having to do anything.

Work in your packets and found online is meant to be completed throughout the week.

Be sure that students check their school board email every day and that students have signed into Google Classroom.

Third Grade: i4d2i6b                     Fourth Grade: bv7x4ai                  Fifth Grade:  4i3kobq

Each day, students should spend at least 20 minutes working in i-Ready Reading and

i-Ready Math. I will be looking at their time on task and progress each day. A classwork grade will be taken each week for reading and math.

Students in my third and fourth grade math classes, you have two weeks of Kick Start worksheets. Students in fifth grade have one week of Kick Start. Students will need help to complete each day’s lesson. The Kick Starts are a spiral review for previous math lessons. Remember to send me a picture of Day 5 when it is completed. Feel free to modify or simplify the problems to bring them to your child’s level.

In your packet, you may find math lessons from your i-Ready and Go Math workbooks and/or Hand 2 Mind. Students should need your help with these lessons. Feel free to modify or simplify the problems to bring them to your child’s level. Remember, working on the concept is the important part, the worksheets are practice – do only as much as you and your child are up to.

Students may work in the math program, Prodigy. If they are using the class group, I have the ability to raise and lower their level of instruction. Let me know if the level needs to be adjusted.

    Reading and Writing

For students in my reading/writing class, please complete the i-Ready packet and the Daily ELA practice found in your folder. Family members, your student may need your help to read the text and answer the questions.

On Myon, the students have been assigned the book, The Best Camouflaged Animals. Students should read the book and take the quiz. Students are welcome to read more books after they have read the assigned book and taken the quiz. Remember, this is a graded assignment.

For writing, email Mrs. McGraw your response to the following prompt. Animals can do amazing things. Pick an animal and write to explain two amazing things that the animal can do. Be sure your response follows the correct format.

Students in my science class will be working on standard SC.5.L.17.1 which is: Compare and contrast adaptations displayed by animals and plants that enable them to survive in different environments, such as life cycle variations, animal behaviors and physical characteristics.

Student in my science class will compete the science work in StemScopes, which is also found in the other 5th grade packet. Complete the work online if possible. If not, send me a picture of the completed work.

    Students in my science class

At the bottom of the Social Studies Weekly Grade Five, you will find Science Weekly. If you have time, take a look at Week 5. In addition, I have opened all the weeks for science. What are you and your child curious about? Have fun exploring and learning.

    Social Studies

For students in my social studies class, you have new Social Studies Weekly and assignment sheet in your packet. Students may use the website to help them read the articles or, better yet, do the daily assignments with someone. At the end of the week, there is an online quiz. The quiz is open notes. Feel free to work with students to help them take the quiz. Students may take the quiz as many times as they want. I will get a report of the grade earned.

This is a long list, pick and choose what is best for you and your child. As I tell my students, all you can do is your best. Do what you and your child are willing/able to do without adding to the stress life. I am here to help.
