• Assignments for the Week of April 1-3, 2020

     

    Math

    Standard:  MAFS.2.MD.1.1- Measure the length of an object to the nearest inch, foot, centimeter, or meter by selecting and using appropriate tools such as rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks, and measuring tapes.   

    Math Assignment:

    Use a ruler that measures both inches and centimeters and find 5 or more items in your house to measure.  Measure the items in inches.   Then measure the items in centimeters.  Send an email to your teacher containing a picture of the items with the measurements, or the names of the items and each item’s length.  

    Choice of ways to get your answers to your teacher: 

    1. The student can write the answers on paper and have the parent type the answers in the email.
    2. The student can write the answers on paper and have the parent take a picture of it and send it in the email to the teacher.
    3. The student can type the answers in a document and have the parent attach the document to the email.   
    4. The student or parent can type the answers the student gives directly into an email to the teacher.

    Math i-Ready Assignment:
    Complete 45-60 minute of iReady Math each week.    Students get to iReady Math by signing into their Portal.

    Note to Student:   You should be passing every test you take.   If you do not pass a test, you will have to do the same lesson again.   Be sure to pay close attention so you can do your best.   You need to take the quizzes by yourself.    You do not have to submit any work to your teacher for this because you teacher can see the work you have completed online.  

     

    ELA

    Standard:  LAFS.2.RL.3.9   Compare and contrast two or more versions of the same story (e.g. Cinderella stories) by different authors or different cultures. 

    ELA Assignment: 

    Read in MyON:  “Little Red Riding Hood Stories Around the World”.   There are three stories.   Choose 2 of the stories to compare and contrast.   How are the stories alike?  How are the stories different?   Write 3-5 sentences about how the stories are the same.   Then write 3-5 sentences about how the stories are different.   Send these to your teacher on email.  

    Choice of ways to get your answers to your teacher: 

    1. The student can write the sentences on paper and have the parent take a picture of it and send it in the email to the teacher. Be sure to put your name on your paper! 
    2. The student can write the sentences on paper and have the parent type the sentences in the email.
    3. The student can type the sentences in a document and have the parent attach the document to the email.
    4. The student or parent can type the answers the student gives directly into an email to the teacher.
    5. Accommodation for students who cannot write: The parent can type the sentences the student says into the email to the teacher. 

    ELA Reading Assignment:

    Read for 20-30 minutes each day.    Send your teacher a list of the books you read.   You can either send a list of what you read each day, or you can send a list one time a week of all the books you read that week.   This is due by Friday each week. 

    ELA iReady Assignment:

    Social Studies

    Standard: SS.2.A.2.5 – Identify reasons people came to the United States throughout history.

    Social Studies Assignment: 

    Read Studies Weekly Week 9 and answer all the questions in each section.   When you have earned reward coins, you may use them to play the games in Studies Weekly. 

    You do not have to submit any work to your teacher for this because you teacher can see the work you have completed online.  

     

    Science

    Standard:  SC.2.E.6.1:  Recognize that Earth is made up of rocks.  Rocks come in many sizes and shapes. 

    Science Assignment:   

    Go into StemScopes on the Student Portal.     Read the Vocabulary Words on Picture Vocabulary  2.E.Rocks 6.1. (This assignment will show up in StemScopes on the morning of Wednesday, April 1).   Write 1 sentence for each vocabulary word.
