Here is a checklist for April 6-10

  • Sanford Harmony Moment: 

    A Put-Down Statement is used to blame, make fun of, try to embarrass, or say something that makes someone else feel bad.

    A Clear-It-Up Statement is a calm statement that focuses on your own feelings and how you would want the problem to be resolved.\


    Read the scenarios below out loud with your student. Have the student choose which response is the Put-Down Statement and which is the Clear-It-Up Statement

    1. Tori and her cousin Blake are trying to decide which movie to watch during their sleepover. After a rock-paper-scissors battle, it is decided that they will watch Tori’s movie pick. Even though Tori won, Blake refuses to watch her movie.

    a. Response A: “You’re no fun to hang out with, Blake. You only have fun if we do what you want to do.”


    b. Response B: “Blake, I feel sad that you’re not watching this movie with me. We agreed to use rock-paper-scissors to decide which movie to watch. I’d like us to follow through on what we decide.”


    2. Alex and Tyler are at the petting zoo when their mom offers to give each enough money for one bag of feed. Alex told Tyler he would get both bags. When Tyler comes back from the bathroom, he finds that Alex has already handed out all of the food to the animals.


    a. Response A: “I feel disappointed that I didn’t get to feed the animals, Alex. One of the bags of food was supposed to be for me. Next time, I would like you to save me a bag of food.”


    b. Response B: “You’re so mean Alex. You know that one of those bags of food was for me.”
