Hello students and parents! My name is Mrs. Gilliam. I’m passionate about teaching and mentoring my students to help them become confident, capable, and educated individuals for themselves and the community. My main focus and goal is to do everything I can to encourage my students to reach their goals both academically and personally. I look forward to communicating and working with you to ensure that your child will have all the support he/she needs to have a successful year.

I graduated from Blandford School of Nursing in Petersburg, VA in 1995. I also studied at the College of Central Florida where I obtained my BAS in Healthcare Administration. I have worked in the healthcare industry for over 20 years. I’ve been employed with MCPS since 2009. I have previously worked as a HCA in the school clinic at Hillcrest School and Legacy Elementary.  I transitioned to teaching for the Young Parent Program at MTI in August of 2018 and was an instructor for the program for two years. I enjoyed instructing for YPP and I'm excited about my transition to Westport High School.

When I’m not teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband and three daughters. I’m originally from Virginia but I have lived her in Florida for over 16 years now. I love the beach, a good movie, and food. I believe it’s never too late to create and live the life you want to have for yourself.

Teaching Anatomy and Physiology allows me to combine the knowledge I obtained from working in the healthcare industry over the years with my love for teaching and educating students. It is exciting to watch my students learn and grow through education. The healthcare industry has always been a part of my career. Learning about the human body, it's systems and functions has always intrigued me. My hope is that the students enrolled in my class will have a learning experience that will enhance their knowledge whether they are choosing a career path in the medical field or just wanting a better understanding of the Anatomy and Physiology of the human body.
