This year in Civics we will be studying the principles, functions, and organization of government; the origins of the American political systerm; the roles, rights, responsibilities of United States citizens; and methods of active participation in our political system. The course is embedded with strong geographic and economic components to support civics education instruction.
During the year you can expect to have a variety of assignments. At the end of the year we will take the state Civics End of Course Exam (EOC). It counts as 30% of the FINAL grade in Civics, so it's important to keep up with your work! Here's our Civics Year at a Glance.
Your grade will be based on the following breakdown:
- Homework*: 10%
- Classwork/Quizzes**: 50%
- Tests/Projects/Presentations: 40%
**Quizzes will be taken upon completing each Civics standard.
