Policies and Procedures:
Attendance- Regular attendance is necessary to do well in Psychology. Much of the students’ learning will occur though in class discussion and activities (whether in physical or virtual class) which cannot be made up.
Late work- Assignments are due on the assigned due date. Students are responsible for checking the teacher's webpage and making up missed work.
If a student has an excused absence, she/he must make up the missed work and will have 1 day for every missed day to submit missed work for up to full credit (ex. Two-day absence = two school days to submit missing work/take quizzes/tests upon student’s return).
*Students who are home due to quarantine, but are not sick, are expected to complete ALL work DURING their time at home (by checking teacher's webpages) and may submit via email during absence period or on the first day back in class.
Other late work may be accepted for a reduced score (usually a 5-point reduction per day late). Students are encouraged to schedule time for quiz/test make-ups during CAT period within 2 days of their absence.
Resubmissions- Many assignments may be resubmitted to raise a below mastery score (less than 80%). Students must request to make up the assignment/quiz and must resubmit the assignment by their next scheduled class period (unless there is an approved extenuating circumstance). Students may earn up to 80% on resubmitted assignments.
Electronic Devices- Cell phones are not allowed to be on or visible during class (unless pre-approved as part of a class lesson). Cell phones must be off or set on silent (not vibrate) and kept in the student’s bag or pocket. EAR BUDS/headphones must be removed upon entering class and may not be visible during class.
Dress Code- Students clothing must conform to the dress code set forth in the Forest Student Handbook. Student’s must have school issued ID’s VISIBLE at all times. Hoodies worn on the head are considered hats and are not allowed inside the school buildings (hallways or classrooms).
Food and Drink- Student may have water or other beverages in non-breakable bottles/cups with secure lids (no Styrofoam or paper cups—no Polar cups, no Mc Donald’s cups, no open soda cans, etc.).
Due to COVID-19 safety protocols eating in the classroom is currently prohibited.
IF/when restrictions are lifted, small snacks that are not messy, not loud, and not distracting may discretely be eaten during class. (Yes = Crackers, pretzels, small cookies, small candies. NO = Breakfast sandwich, burgers, large donuts, chips, large candy bars, etc.)
Classroom Procedures- Students will copy the posted classroom procedures into their Psychology notebook and follow all classroom procedures at all times, including and especially when substitute teachers are present:
Entering: Be seated, gather your supplies, begin silent bell work.
Restroom Breaks: 5 minutes only. Sign out on the Restroom Log with first and last name and time out. Silently get teacher’s attention and obtain pass. Students may not take phones to the restroom. Upon return, sign back in, return pass, use hand sanitizer, take seat silently (Do NOT ask the teacher “what did I miss?”). Parents will be contacted if a student takes excessive bathroom breaks or excessive time on breaks.
Absence: CHECK THE TEACHER WEBSITES for all assigned work. You may also ask classmates for missing work, especially vocabulary notes. Complete missed work after class or during CAT period. Submit missed work before or after school or at the beginning of the next scheduled class period.
Guests: If a guest (other faculty, district staff, etc.) enters the room, ignore them and keep working unless specifically addressed by the guest.
Sharpen pencil: Raise pencil, to silently get teacher’s attention, wait for a nod, quietly sharpen pencil.
Exit: When the teacher dismisses you (NOT the bell), clean up your area, and have a great day! *Waiting by the door to leave--for class change, lunch, or end of the day-- is not allowed.
