    GRADES:

    How is your grade calculated? 10% for Homework, 50% Quizzes/Classwork, 40% Tests/Projects.

    What is the Grading Scale? A = 90-100, B = 80-89, C = 70-79, D = 60-69, F = 0-59. (The State of Florida EOC - End-of-Course Exam - accounts for 30% of your Final Grade.) A student passes Geometry when they successfully pass the State of Florida's End-Of-Course Exam!!!

How fast is the pace of this class? Each class period is approximately 2 hours long. This constitutes a double class period and students should expect to cover at least two (2) new Topics each class period. Each Topic on average takes approximately 45 minutes to cover. If a student is absent from class, they are expected to cover online in "Geometry Nation" the next two Topics to be covered for every day of class that a student is absent. Please do not forget, you pass Geometry when you pass the "State of Florida's End-Of-Course Exam."

    What about extra help?

Most students need help with Math!!! Tutoring is available Monday thru Thursday from 3:50 PM to 4:50 PM. Buses are available to drop off students at 5 other school locations for easy pick up after tutoring. Check with the Office for an application.

ASSIGNMENTS:The Majority of Assignments are Take-Home Quizzes and Tests!!! These quizzes and tests are Open Note and Open Video!!! These assignments are rigorous and require effort!!! These assignments  are not easy but perseverence pays off - and we must persevere!!! The State of Florida initiates standards that demand perseverence!!! This is a Hurricane Habit!!!

When turning in assignments, you must include 3 things:

         A) Your full name,

         B) What Period you are assigned in,

         C) And the Title of the Assignment.

Failure to include items A), B), and C) with each assignment will cause a delay in grading and may subject the student to a grade point deduction.

    HOMEWORK:

HOMEWORK is a "MUST." In order for students to experience success in Geometry, students need to have a designated time and place for studying each and every day. All assignments are to be turned in on time. If not turned in on time a grade of "0", (Zero) will be submitted. If a student misses a Test, Project, Quiz, Homework Assignment, etc. - in short - if a student misses anything that generates a grade, a "0", (Zero) will be entered as a placeholder. It is the student's responsibility to turn work in on time. If you have an excused absence, (as predicated by Marion County Public School Policy and Procedures), the student will have "one day" for "each day" of excused absence, to make up missing work. Missing tests and quizzes must be made up outside of classtime. Arrangements must be made ASAP after returning to school. Arrangements and discussion about student grades, arrangements and discussion about student make-up work are not to be initiated during class time. Class time is for all students to embrace and to benefit from. Discussion about a student's grade, arrangements and discussions about a student's make-up work are not to take place during classtime.

    MAKE-UP WORK POLICY:

Students wanting to discuss OR request make-up work should see me after class. Such requests and discussions are not to be initiated during class time. Class time is for all students to learn, and focus on, the material currently being covered without distraction.

    DISCIPLINE/CLASS RULES:

    -Do not be tardy.

    -Be respectful of others.

-Maintain Academic Integrity!! All your work MUST BE YOUR WORK!

-Do not be insubordinate, respectfully follow directions.

-Be courteous to each other, bullying is not tolerated.

-Be prepared for class, bring required materials every day, including a positive can-do attitude.

-No food or drink, except bottled water!

-Cell Phones are to be in your back-pack, turned off. No one comes to school to "learn" how to use a cell phone. Cell phones are not allowed in my class! Students clearly have already demonstrated mastery of the cell phone...now let's master Geometry!!!

-Believe in yourself! Never give-up, never surrender!!! We endeavor to persevere, to understand each and every element of Geometry - that is our work!!! Thinking is hard work - Knowledge is the Currency of the Future!!! That is what you will be paid for - your knowledge!!! Let's Learn To Earn!!!
