    May 13, 2020

Today we will review the laws of exponents.  We will Zoom at 10 am.  Check your student email account for the invitation.

First, print out the Algebra 1 EOC Flip Book Review.  If you cannot print this copy the questions in the "Exponents" box or you may write them down in the Zoom meeting for your notes.

Next, print the Exponent Review & Assignment #1.  We will go over these notes in class together. The second page "Assignment #1" is the worksheet you will need to complete for a grade.  The answers to the odd questions are listed for you so you can check your work.  The even questions must be submitted on the Google form (on the next link): Exponent Review Assignment #1.

    May 11, 2020

Today we will look at Exponential Growth and Decay.  You will need your calculator for this work.  Complete these two practice notes and problems in our Zoom class today.

    Practice Exponential Growth & Decay

Then complete the form: Exponential Growth & Decay Form

    May 6, 2020

Today we will practice identifying and evaluating some exponential functions.

Print out the Practice Exponential Functions and join me for a Zoom lesson to complete the practice.  (Bring your calcultor!!)   Then use the practice questions to complete the form in the Google classroom Practice Exponential Functions 1-10You may use your class notes to help you.

     May 4, 2020

Today we will look at the graphs and tables of some exponential functions. Please print out the study guide (link below) and join me in the Zoom class to complete it together.  Then, using your completed study guide, submit the answer key form that accompanies this assignment (The form is in the Google classroom).  If you are working from home you may submit just the completed study guide.

    April 27, 2020

Please remeber to complete the Quadratics Test this week by April 30th.

When you have completed the test you will begin the study of exponential functions.  Please start with the Khan Academy videos, warm-up and practice.  We will work on the study guide next week on Monday.  Remember to take notes on the videos.  You may watch them more than once if needed.

Khan Academy Video: Into to Exponential Functions

Khan Academy Video: Exponential vs Linear Growth

Khan Academy Article: Warm-Up: Exponential vs Linear Growth

Khan Academy: Practice Exponential vs Linear Growth  (This is the one that you send me a screen shot of your summary/score)

    April 22, 2020

Today we will use the discriminant of the quadratic formula to determine how many solutions we should have.  The dicriminant is the part of the equation under the radical sign.  If the discrminant is less than zero there are no real roots.  If the discriminant is equal to zero then we will have only one real root.  If the discriminant is greater than zero we will have 2 real roots.  The video below is not required but may be very helpful if you cannot attend the Zoom classes on Mondays and Wednesdays.  Remember to submit the Answer Key for page 598 in the Google classroom when you are finished.  The study guide for this lesson is the back page of the study guide listed on 4/20/20 below.

Khan Academy Video: Discriminant of Quadratic Equations  (If you need help this video is very good.)

    April 20, 2020

This week we will work on solving quadratic equations using the quadratic formula.  When you finish the work please submit your answers on the answer Key form in our Google classroom.  On Wednesday we will complete page 598.  The videos are NOT required this week but may be helpful completing page 597.  The second practice is for extra credit.

    Study Guide The Quadratic Formula

Khan Academy Video: Using the Quadratic Formula  (If you need help this video is very good.)

Khan Academy Practice: Quadratic Formula (If you think you have this and want a challenge work these 4 problems.  This is extra credit but you must send me a screen shot of your score or 3/4 or better.)

    April 15, 2020

Today our lesson comes from the study guide page 592.  How do we complete the square if it is not a perfect square.  Use the study guide below, Completing the Square, page 592.  After you complete the work use the Answer Key Form to submit your answers in the Google classroom.

    April 13, 2020

This week we will work on solving quadratics by completing the square. We will use side one of the study guide for todays lesson and on Wednesday we will complete side two.  If you are going to Zoom today at 10 am please have the study guide printed out and ready to work onif possible, and have paper, pencil, and a calculator ready to work on the lessons.

Today we will continue the second side of the study guide.  Click on the link below "Study Guide Solving Quadratic Equations by Graphing".  Print it out if you can otherwise do the work on your own paper.  Snap a picture and send it to me (both sides).  I will Zoom at 2 pm today to finish this up.  If you would like an invite please email me by 1:30pm.

You should have received an email invite to my google classroom.  If you got 2 of them the first one will not work.  Use the email I sent with todays date on it.  That link should work.  Thank you everyone for your patience.  Remember, if you are having problems email me.  We will work this out!!

    Update:  04/01/2020 @ 11:47

Today I had some email issues that kept me from getting the code for Zoom out to everyone in a timely manner.  If you could not attend but would like to try Zoom out with me and some of your classmates, just email me and I will set up another meeting BEFORE the next regularly scheduled meeting (Monday 04/06/2020).  I am planning to do the following to continue this quarter:

01.) I will be at my desk on my email Monday – Thursday from 9-11 am.  If you need to reach me you may email during this time frame.  Keep in mind you may email me at any hour, I just may not be at the desk to answer you until the above time frame.

02.)  I will have a Zoom meeting on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 to 10:30 am to discuss the new lesson.  Once you attend a regular meeting you can use that same link every Monday and Wednesday to join the meetings (so save that email).

You should check my web page on Mondays and Wednesdays for any updates or new assignments.  We will start out nice and slow to begin with so we can ease into a new way of doing things.  It will be an adventure!!

    March 31, 2020

If you would like to join the Zoom meeting on Wednesday you will need to email me at mayme.hopple@marion.k12.fl.us

I plan to meet about 10 am.

     March 30, 2020

    Attention students:

Starting on Wednesday this week (April 1, 2020) I will plan to post a lesson or 2 per week on this webpage.  I will also plan to host a Zoom meeting on line if you can attend. I am telling you now so you can check out Zoom on line (Maybe watch a tutorial video in advance!) and tell your classmates.  It would be fun to see everyone there! Look for all the upcoming information here soon.  Study Guides for the lessons will also be posted for you to download and print or copy.  I look forward to navigating this new adventure in learning with you all.  We can do this!!
