    Course Description and Course Goals

    This course is to introduce the student to the history, goals and career opportunities in the Criminal Justice Profession. It also covers ethics and professionalism, constitutional and criminal laws, court and trial process, juvenile justice system and the correctional system. Students will also be instructed on personal, interpersonal and communication skills as well as demonstrate employability skills.

    Grading

    • It is my goal to give the highest grade possible for the maximum effort the student has put into the assignment, test or project.

    Grades for this course will be determined through a number of assignments. I recognize that different kinds of assignments feed into the strengths of different students, and I work to provide a range of opportunities for you to show what you’ve learned.

    Grading Scale:

    90-100         A

    80-89           B

    70-79           C

    60-69           D

    59-Below      F

    Final Grade Breakdown:

    Tests/Projects   30% of final grade

    Notebook         25% of final grade

    Classwork        45% of final grade

     

     

    • I will except late work for 7 days after the assignment is due with a 10% penalty. After 7 days the student will receive a zero unless other arraignments have been made prior to the assignment being due.
    • Tests/Projects are Midterm exams, Final Exams and Projects. Notebook is the quality of the notes that are written in the notebook. Classwork is any assignments given out through Google Classroom or in class. Participation in video discussions, participation with peers and all other work that is assigned throughout the year.

    Course Description and Course Goals

    This course is to introduce the student to the characteristics and procedures of patrol, complete written reports and crime prevention programs. Students will also describe guidelines for Use-of-Force, perform CPR/first aid techniques, and procedures to protect from blood-borne pathogens. Training for Traffic Control Officer and Parking Enforcement Specialist.

    This course is to introduce the student to the position of Public Service Aide. Training will be in Traffic Crash Investigations. Students will learn Traffic Crash scene management and the basic principles of Traffic Crash Investigations.
