It is the mission of the MCCA Technical Theatre program to develop the students’talentsfor creation. Technical theatre students will learn stagecraft, scenic, lighting, costume design and construction, along with other skills that will be applied through hands-on work on productions. It is subsequently a mission of the Technical Theatre program to operate the Performing Arts Center as a student-run theatrical space. This requires students to be constantly vigilant in their professionalism, and to maintain the PAC as a professional theatre space both for school productions and for rentals. A student-run theatrical space also requires students to be trained and proficient in all areas of technical art while obtaining mastery in one. All MCCA theatre students are expected to participate in extra-curricular productions as a means of applying the theories and skills taught in class. This program requires participation above and beyond the school day. Students completing this program will be prepared to apply for post-secondary training to further their technical career, as well as to enjoy theatre as a life-long avocation.
All student work and collaboration will be done through Microsoft Teams. You will be automatically populated into a class Team at the start of the year. Any assignments and video conferencing will be done through TEAMS. Ms Singley will introduce you to the program in the first few days of school.
**Students should download and peruse the 20-21 MCCA Tech and Directing Orientation Handbook before the start of school. This Handbook can be found below**
Students will be expected to sign up for the Remind App with their class specific code. Remind facilitates easier connection with teacher and allows for class reminders without personal number sharing. To join this class' Remind group, text @gobuildit to 81010.
