• What is Practical Arts?

    Posted by:

This is the class everyone seems to say "Why didn't they teach that while I was in high school?!" It is, quite literally, learning to be an adult. Subjects we will cover in this class are things like creating a resume and going on interviews, financial planning, balancing work life with personal life, information about getting and properly using a credit card, as well as numerous other topics.

We use Google Classroom quite a bit to keep track of assignments and do testing and other things.

We will write in our notebooks/do a bell work question every single day. You will receive a weekly notebook grade. Must be a composition notebook, not spiral bound

Casio SL-300SV Basic Calculator : Target

You won't need this every day. You won't need more than a four-function calculator. There are a couple classes about finances where we will do a little bit of math.

■The first 20-25 pages will be for Bell Work.

There are 36 weeks in the school year, this gives you 1 side of each page for the 4 bell works each week, with 2-7 extra physical pages (4-14 extra sides to write on) in case you run long in your answers a few times. The extra pages are also for the students who have larger handwriting. If you know you write big and a lot, you may want to give yourself extra pages to work with. Do at least 20 physical pages, but you can do as many as 25.

■The 21st/26th page (the next page after your bell work pages) should be folded into an “arrow”

–Fold each corner of the page back to create the arrow

Write the word “Classwork” on the arrow page

■The rest of the pages will be for things we do in class. Whether I have you take notes or answer questions or even if we do some kind of worksheet that could be glued onto the page. In each instance, I will have you label the top of the page with a title about what we are doing and then we will go from there.

  • How do I stay updated on what's happening in class?

    Posted by:

    - I do my best to post Bell Work questions to my website every day or at least at the end of each week.

    - I post updates/power points from the class to google classroom.

    - I send out Reminds as well, to remind those who are following me about upcoming assignments/tests. You can also get in contact with me this way.
