    Good Morning Class of 2020,

Hope you are all doing well during these strange days!

I honestly don't have many updates at this point.  Looks like we will all start virtual teaching and learning next week and hopefully return to good old West Port in April.  Lets's all hope that plan goes smoothly!

Please e-mail me with your questions and concerns, and I will do my best to answer them.

    Have a great day!

    Mr. L

  • Planning for the Future during Strange and Uncertain Times

Posted by Adam Langenmayr on 3/27/2020

Good Morning to all of our marvelous, amazing, and wonderful young men and women!

Let's start my acknowledging that we are living through some pretty strange times.  Someday, when you're old, you'll look back on the events surrounding the Corona Virus as one of the many challenges overcome in your life.  Hang in there!

The unknown can be scary.  Throughout this year, many of you have expressed to me that you are nervous about your future.  The best advice I can give you is to develop a plan and follow it through.  Some of you know for sure that you are going straight to a college/technical school, military service, or into the work force.  That's great!...for those of you who have made those decisions, follow through.  Don't be distracted or discouraged by the unknown!  One way or another, you are going to graduate and move on from West Port.  Life will go on and you need to be ready!  If you don't have a plan and are still asking yourself, "What am I gonna do after graduation...?"  I suggest that you do one of the following as soon as possible...

    1.  Apply to the College of Central Florida, Marion Technical College, or BOTH!

    2.  Meet with a military recruiter and explore your options for service in the armed forces.  All of the branches have their advantages         and disadvantages.  The military is a great choice for earning an education, a good pay check, and some life experience.  I chose         to join the Coast Guard immediately after high school and it was one of the best decisions of my life.  If you have any questions           about military service, I would be happy to help you find the answers.  Send me an e-mail and I will help you in any way I can!

    • Army
    • Navy
    • Air Force
    • Marines
    • Coast Guard

    3.  Enter the work force and start saving money.  This might me a good option for a lot of you, and many of you are already working.       However, please consider training to get a better job by enrolling at MTC (option 1) or CFC while you maintain your job.

See the links below.  The first link will allow you to check to see if you already have an order placed with Rhodes Graduation.  The second link will take you directly to the basic cap/gown/tassel/medallion package.

If you are borrowing a cap/gown from a previous WP graduate, you may want to get a 2020 tassel and medallion.  If so, choose the Early College Package link.  You DO NOT NEED TO BE in the Early College program to order this package.

Check to see if I already have an order placed with Rhodes Graduation
