• Welcome to Fifth Grade with Ms Harness!

     

    To view assignments starting Wednesday, April 1, 2020: 

    Login to your MCPS Portal, click on "Google Classroom", and enter the code jaz2cpl to join Math and Science for my home room class and code 7ivd36c to join Math and Science for Mrs. Gwin's home room class. All students are responsible to check in with all their teachers websites, including specials. My homeroom class will need to check in atleast once daily Monday-Friday for attendance. 

    Assignments will be posted on Mondays and due on Fridays.

    In addition to assignments posted on Google Classroom, students need to complete 45 minutes of iReady Math PER WEEK

    I will be avaiable for questions/feedback through Google Classroom, or email (click here to email Ms Harness) Monday-Friday, 9-10 am and 2-3 pm.

    Standard: 5.G2.4 Classify and organize 2-dimensional figures into Venn diagrams based on the attributes of the figures.
    Lesson Objective:Classify 2-dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on properties of the figures.
    Essential Question:How can I classify 2-dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on their properties?

    Science 

    Standard: 5.L 17.1 Compare and contrast adaptations displayed by animals and plants that enable them to survive in different environments, such as life cycle variations, animal behaviors and physical characteristics.

    Lesson Objective:An adaptation is a structure or function in a plant or animal that helps it survive in its environment.

    Essential Question:How do plant and animal adaptations in different environments compare?
    Vocabulary:Species, adaptation, camouflage, mimicry, predator, prey
