    3. Journal entry #28: Copy the meanings for the following terms from your textbook into your journal:

    • narrative

    • narrative non-fiction

    • narrative poetry

    • narrator

    •  dialogue

    Tuesday, 04/09/19

    1. Discuss the characteristics of a narrative and find examples in "The Ravine" of :

    •  inference

    • characters

    • settings

    • literary story elements (plot, setting, characters, point-of-view, theme, style)

    • figurative language

    • imagery

    • sensory language

    • transition words and phrases

    • quotation marks

    • author's point of view

    • dialect

     2. Find examples during the discussion and write them down in the journal.

     

    Wednesday, 04/10/19 (Periods 1,3,5) or Thursday, 04/11/19 (Periods 2,4,6)

    1.  Read and discuss pages 13-16 in the textbook.

    2. Students will complete number 1 through 5 on page 16. 

    • They should re-write the sentences, changing only the slang or dialect to Standard English. 

    • DO  NOT  SHORTEN  THESE  SENTENCES.
