COURSE DESCRIPTION AND GOALS
The purpose of the English II course is to provide integrated, and rigorous language arts study in reading, writing, listening, speaking, and grammar to prepare for future advanced English courses. Students will read and critically examine texts from a variety of literary genres. Students will compose an array of texts, including (but not limited to) analytical, argumentative, and informational essays, narratives, presentations, and projects.
The goals of this course are:
- to develop students' competence as writers, readers, speakers and listeners.
- to prepare students for higher-level reading and writing skills, as well as improve their overall communication skills so they may become successful in life.
- to engage students in reading, analyzing, and researching a diverse selection of literature from classic to contemporary.
