Marion County Public Schools may record online classroom sessions utilizing third-party platforms (Zoom, Google Classroom, etc.). These recordings will only be used for educational purposes and may be shared on other learning platforms. If you do not want your child’s image or identifying information recorded, utilize your device/platform controls to stop the camera feed from your device.

For those who did not get a chance to join in on the call this afternoon here is the breakdown of what was talked about:
Assignments will be 2-3 times weekly, nothing too heavy mostly taken from your guided reading workbook.
The due dates will be about a week from the assignment date and will all be on the same date if I post them at the same time, just look at the assignment details.
I will be posting a PowerPoint that I comment over to alleviate the lack of face to face lecture. You can write notes on the PowerPoint and save them for future reference.
Once a week we will have Google Meet conferences to talk about questions and get in a little social time. I have heard that if you sign in with you personal gmail account Google Meet works fine so if you had trouble this time, no worries, try that next time. If that doesn't work, just call in using the provided phone number and pin. Please MUTE YOURSELVES when you pop into the meetings because background noise is near deafening to everyone and serves as a distraction. If you need to speak, post in the chat or un-mute yourself.
The next Google Meet will be on Friday 4/3/2020 at 12 PM for 8th Grade where we will discuss the PowerPoint I'll be posting tonight on the Causes of the Civil War and at 1 PM for 6th Grade to discuss the beginnings of Ancient Rome PowerPoint that I will be uploading tonight as well. The expectation is for the students to click through the commentated PowerPoint, listen to the lecture, and take notes as they go. Whether the dtudents want to take physical notes on paper for themselves or download the PowerPoint and take notes on there, does not matter to me as they are not for a grade but will come in handy for tests and quizzes.
If you have any questions in the meantime please email me.

It was awesome to see/hear from you guys, we'll get through this together!

Good evening everyone!
I have been looking at a way for the classes to meet that is included in the Google package used by Marion County Schools. It is called Google Meet and is accessed through Google Classroom so no one without the link (to my knowledge) can access the meeting without permission. This alleviates the concern that Zoom has presented recently with unwanted strangers accessing the streams. I will be setting up a test run with the students tomorrow. At 12 PM tomorrow, my 8th Grade students will be invited on Google Classroom via a link posted on there by myself the same thing for my 6th Grade classes at 1 PM. Parents are more than welcome to attend of course but this is more of a trial run to see how the system works with 4 periods of students in at once. In these meetings I will go over the structure of the foreseeable future and how things will run in the online envirionment. If anyone has any questions about anything I'd love to answer them then!
I'm excited to see you all (virtually) soon!

Good Afternoon everyone!
I have finalized everyone's Quarter 3 grades in the gradebook so when you get a chance you can go to the portal and see what grade is coming your way on the report card.
I have also sent out an invite from each period of the Google Classroom to the student's school email accounts. At this point I have a smattering of students in each one but most of the classes have a long way to go for full attendance. Please be sure to check your student emails to find the invite if you have not already put in the code and tell your friends to check theirs!

Happy Sunday everyone!
Due to some difficulties accessing the first period Google Classroom I have sent an invite to all of my first period students via their school email to more easily access the google classroom.
I will soon do this for all the other stragglers that have failed to enter the codes themselves so that by Wednesday everyone will either have an invite to their google classroom in their inbox or will have already entered their code and are among my roster.
Keep a look out for the invite!
