Degrees and Certifications:
A bit about me:
I grew up mostly in Colorado Springs, CO (my dad was in the Air Force so we did move around a bit). I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, with a minor in History, from the University of Colorado and my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of New England. I have 28 years of experience in education, thirteen as a certified classroom teacher. Prior to Liberty Middle School, I taught and wrote curriculum for 6 years with Florida Virtual School as well as taught 5 years at West Port High School. Prior to Counseling, I have had the enjoyment of teaching US History here at Liberty, World History and Advanced Placement European History at West Port High School along with World Religions, Sociology, Psychology, Leadership Skills, and Peer Counseling with FLVS. In addition to being in the classroom, I have worked as an Educational Assistant at the elementary and middle school level, a community center Teacher and Director, a District Manager for a private education company, an elementary, secondary, and college-level Curriculum Writer, and a Youth Counselor/Teacher at an outdoor therapeutic program for at-risk and troubled youth.
My wife Kim has also taught with Florida Virtual School and Marion County at Dunnellon Middle School, Saddlewood Elementary, College Park Elementary and is currently also a School Counselor at Saddlewood Elementary. We have a 12-year-old son named Michael who is in 7th grade this year at Liberty and a 7-year-old daughter named Kora in 1st at Saddlewood. In our spare time, we enjoy traveling as well as being at the beach or at Disney as much as possible. I played baseball in college and have coached for many years. I also spent four years as a part-time scout with the Milwaukee Brewers.
I can’t wait to work with you and our students to create a successful and safe 8th Grade experience!
