Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts + Minor in Psychology
I have always loved and practiced art since I was old enough to finger paint or hold a crayon! I attended Savannah College of Art & Design in Georgia, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts with a Minor in Psychology from Appalachian State University in the mountains of North Carolina. After college, I was a manager and marketing/public relations specialist, and also taught classes and private lessons here in Ocala for five years at two local Art Studios. During those years, I had the privilege to experience teaching several media of art like: ceramics, painting, illustration, glass fusion, and other various 2D and 3D courses to people of all ages including children, adults, and the elderly. I have even taught some of my fellow teachers at Fort McCoy! In my free time, I like to play the guitar, go fishing, hang out with my three dogs and two cats, gaze at space through my telescope, catch up on sleep, and of course create artwork!
4 years ago, I embarked upon my career as a teacher in the public-school system. I was a long-term substitute for 8th Grade Art History and an advanced art class for both 2D and 3D design for middle schoolers at Lake Weir Middle School. Now, I am in my third year teaching at Fort McCoy. Last year, I was fortunate enough to be voted Fort McCoy's 2020 Rookie Teacher of the Year! I could not be more ecstatic about sharing the world of art to such a wide range of ages in elementary school and feel so lucky to have the opportunity every year. Art truly is everything and I love creating with everyone!
