Mrs. Sullivan
I am here because of you. Investing in our education empowers us, and it can never be taken away from us. I am here to guide you along the way as you make your own meaning and find relevance in your learning. I am incredibly passionate about reading and writing. I love Young Adult fiction, 20th century American literature, and contemporary thrillers. I also read poetry every morning because words are powerful. I journal and write as much as I can outside of the academic setting. When I am not enjoying time with my family and my dogs, you will find me painting, collaging, reading, or writing. I also love refurbishing old furniture and antique hopping.
This 2020-2021 school year will be my 11th year teaching. I have taught Advanced Placement Literature, Advanced Placement Language, Pre-AP, English I, English II/Honors, American Literature, British Literature, English III, English IV, and I have taught Developmental Reading and Developmental Writing at the college level. Beyond my experiences as a teacher, you will get to know me as someone who cares about you and your future. As a life-long learner, I will never stop seeking new ways to strengthen my craft and be the person you need to help you grow.
I was born and raised in South Orange, New Jersey. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts as a double major in Psychology and Creative Writing from Brooklyn College. I also hold a Master of Arts degree in Secondary English Education with a focus on Composition and Rhetoric from the University of Arkansas.
Here is my family and my two dogs. I can't wait to tell you all about them. More importantly, I can't wait to get to know you and hear about some of your life experiences.
