    1. Commonly Confused Words: loose vs. lose
    2. QSMA
    3. Continued working on our editorials
    4. Submitted a draft to TurnItIn.com to check our conventions
    5. Revised the errors from TurnItIn.com
    6. Designed a slide to be displayed on the board during our presentation
    7. Practiced reading it aloud

    What did we do today?

    1. Commonly Confused Words #7: fewer vs. less
    2. Peer review workshop: rotated through 5 editorial drafts to provide specific, constructive feedback to our peers
    3. Reviewed hooks and looked at examples from past winners
    4. Revised our editorials

    What's for homework?

    • Your final draft is due by the end of next period. If that won't be enough time for you, I suggest working on it at home or during CAT!

    What did we do today?

    1. Commonly Confused Words: farther vs. further
    2. Went over the editorial rubric
    3. Watched the How to Write an Editorial video on the New York Times contest website
    4. Reviewed how to use GALE (log onto your Portal, use the password marion if you're not on a school computer, click Middle and High School, and you can search from there or browse topics under "opposing viewpoints")
    5. Began drafting our editorials

    What's for homework?

    • If you did not finish your rough draft in class, it MUST be submitted by tomorrow! I will be printing them after school so they are ready for our peer review. Complete this on Google Classroom.

      • 5 things that anger, annoy, or frustrate us
      • 5 things that we love, care about, or admire
      • 5 things that would make the world a better place
      • 5 things that would improve FHS
    3. Added one of our items to each graffiti poster
    4. Read a sample editorial from last year's winners
    5. Created a Google Slide pertaining to our editorials
    6. Presented our editorial to the class
    7. Created a list of the Top 10 Tips for Writing a Winner
    8. Brainstormed potential topics
    9. Filled out the Topic Proposal
