All NHJ Students that are competing need to arrive at Edgewater High School no later than 9:00am. Students need to wear khaki bottoms and their STEAM spirit shirt. if you do not have a spirit shirt, please get with Mrs. Hitchcock so we can arrange to have you borrow one. Mrs. Larroque will let you know the meeting location the morning of the competition.
First Aid & Lost and Found: is located at the registration desk. Lost and found items not claimed by 5pm will be brought to the Awards Ceremony. Items not claimed by the end of the Awards Ceremony may be discarded.
Registration will be located in the cafeteria.
Teams will also meet in the cafeteria for Spontaneous. Follow the pink signs. No parents will be allowed in the holding area with the students participating in spontaneous.
Problem 4 students will weigh in and compete in Building 12 on the other side of the football field. Follow the green signs. The staging area is 7x10.
Problem 5 students will compete in Building 5. Follow the blue signs. The staging area is 7x10.
Students may not do costume changes in any of the restrooms. They must choose an empty classroom or other area.
Parents may not carry props, etc past the staging area and are not permitted to put any items together or the team will get points taken off for outside assistance.
Parking is at a premium so please plan on staying parked for the entire day. Overflow parking will be provided at College Park Middle School on Maury Road. Do not park at any of the local businesses, especially Walgreens or Ollies or you will be towed. EHS ROTC will be available to help with parking questions. Park in any of the lots designated "TEAM PARKING" on the Campus Map. Please DO NOT park in the BUS LOOP, which is restricted to Judges and Officials; in front of the visitors lot, which is for offficials; or in the local businesses' lots. Your vehicle WILL BE TOWED!
Food: There will be concessions available. Concessions opens at 8am in the Cafeteria. CASH or CHECK preferred. Hot food will be sold until 4pm. Drinks and snacks will be sold right up until the time of the ceremony at 6pm.Please bring cash. Otherwise the minimum debit transaction allowed is $20. There are several restaurants within walking distance. Please be aware of the times your team is competing so that you get back in time if you choose to walk somewhere. There is an ATM at the Walgreens driectly across the street from the school. Items are priced affordably, and proceeds support the Magic Center Region (Our odyssey chapter).
TEAM PHOTOS: We will be taking team photos in the deisgnated area (time TBA). Parents may purchase the photos for $3.
50/50 Raffle: Tickets are $1 each of $10 for an arm's length. Last year's winner took home nearly $500. The winning ticket will be drawn at the start of the Awards Ceremony. The winner DOES NOT need to be present to win.
**Please Note** Poor behavior from any team members or their families could result in a team being disqualified.
Any teams that advance to state and are recognized at the 6pm ceremony will need to stay afterwards for a brief informational meeting about the state competition.
Merchandise: Sales will begin at 9am in the cafeteria. CASH or CHECKS are preferred, but credit cards will be accepted for purchases over $20. There is an ATM at the Walgreens across the street from the school.
