Carol Gannon Bio
Hello, Ms. Gannon here. I've been a teaching artist for many years. I moved to Florida almost 3 years ago and have been teaching at Legacy for almost that long. I LOVE art - talking about art, making art, and going to musuems but especially I love seeing what creative artwork my students make. They amaze me all the time. They amaze themselves, too.
As a professional artist, I first exhibited and sold batik designs. Later I moved into photography both dark room and digital. My most recent exhibitions have been sculptured hand-crafted paper forms starting with raw bark and processing the bark down to a workable pulp with which to make paper. It's a long process but so much fun (and messy). As a side project from paper making, I make hand made books. I've done it all - graphic design, painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, fiber arts, jewelry making, some small metal works, and wood working.
When I'm not making art or teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband is a triathlete and runner who is always training for the next race. I recently took golf lessons so I am trying to get out on the golf course with friends when I can. We moved to Florida to take care of aging parents and our grandchildren aren't too far away in Georgia. Life is good.
