  • Math ** April 6th-10th

    iReady:  complete 45 minutes per week

     

    MAFS.K.G.1.3 – Identify shapes as two-dimensional (lying in a plane, “flat”) or three-dimensional (“solid”).

    MAFS.K.G.2.4 – Analyze and compare two- and three-dimensional shapes, in different sizes and orientations, using informal language to describe their similarities, differences, parts (e.g., number of sides and vertices/“corners”) and other attributes (e.g., having sides of equal length).

    MAFS.K.G.2.5 – Model shapes in the world by building shapes from components (e.g., sticks and clay balls) and drawing shapes.

     

    **Youtube Jack Hartman shapes songs for 2D and 3D Shapes

     

    Monday and Tuesday:

    Math Vocabulary: above/on top, below/under, next to/beside, in front of, behind

    Have students look around the room for 2D shapes and describe the location of where they are at using the math vocab listed above.

    Example: I see a rectangle paper below/under my chair.

    Wednesday and Thursday:

    Discuss 3D shapes (sphere, cube, 

    Have students look around the room for 3D shapes and describe the location of where they are using the vocabulary.

     

    Friday:

    Review math vocab words.  Have the students find things around the house that are 2D and 3D shapes and describe the location of where they are.

    SC.K.P.8.1 Sort objects by observable properties, such as size, shape, color, temperature (hot or cold), weight (heavy or light) and texture.

    We are working on sorting objects by different attributes. 

    Have your child sort different items from around the house. 

    Have them explain to you why they are sorting by that certain attribute (size, color, texture).

  • Social Studies ** April 6th-10th

    SS.K.E.1.4 - Identify the difference between basic needs and wants.

     

    Have students log in to their portal go to programs and click on Florida Studies Weekly.  Then click on Florida Studies Weekly Kindergarten. 

    We are working Week 12: Needs and Wants. 

    Discuss the difference between needs and wants. 

    Please make sure to take the test at the end of the week.

    Have students log in to their desktop portal and go to the etextbook section, then click on Florida Studies Weekly for Kindergarten.

    Friday -  Review all 2D shapes. Listen to Jack Hartmann's shape songs. Talk about the hexagon shape and its attributes.
