Mr. Torres

Dear Guardian and Class,

I am so excited to be your student’s ESE Teacher this year! It’s going to be a wonderful year filled with new friends, new adventures and new discoveries. I am excited to announce that this is my first official full year of teaching at Belleview Elementary, along with my wonderful Paraprofessional Lisa Smallridge. Have a look through this Bulletin, as you will find some important information about us, our classroom environment, as well as some classroom items that will be needed for our class and will ensure a positive transition into the new year!

I’m Mr. Torres, and I graduated from New Paltz University in New York with a Bachelors in Speech and Language Pathology. I’m married, an absolute foodie, and enjoy travelling! My favorite color is Red, my favorite movie is “The Wizard of OZ”, I love the Fall and COFFEE!...and just about anything with chocolate.

The Classroom Respect, Responsibility, Participation, Safety…these are the main categories that will guide our classroom this year. From the moment we start the day, these core guidelines will help in our transitions, in our interactions with one another, as well as how we personally grow through out the year. The classroom is a place to explore, test the waters, find ourselves, and have fun! BUT…through “Structured teaching”, “Zones of Regulation” and timed center rotations, students will learn personal and group strategies that will help in and outside of the classroom! We will help guide our students in these four areas, help recognize and address feelings, and do it in a positive and encouraging way!

 “Torres Final Thoughts”…

Thank you so much for being a part of our class this year! We welcome you into our family, and look forward to the new faces, as well as hearing about the many different journeys you’ve all been on this summer! We stress that we are here for you and your child, and the door is ALWAYS open! Give us a ring, set a time to come in, and feel free to share ideas! You are a BIG piece in your students’ journey, and we want to hear all about it! 😊 Every accomplishment and step is important, and we cherish them!

I’ll Leave you with a quote: “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”.
