Polynomials and Polynomial Functions
At the end of the unit students will be able to:
- multiply and divide monomials
- use expressions written in scientific notation
- add and subtract polynomials, multiply polynomials
- divide polynomials using long division
- divide polynomials using synthetic division
- factor polynomials
- simplify polynomial quotients by factoring
- solve equations using the Rational Root Theorem
- use the Conjugate Root Theorem
- understand Descartes’ Rule of Signs and how it helps find potential real solutions
- use the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra to solve polynomial equations with complex solutions
