• Horizon Pom & Dance Squad

    The Horizon Pom Squad is directed by Mary Krizanac . The pom squad was started at Sunrise elementary and moved to Horizon when first opened. Ms. Krizanac is a certified Physical best teacher and Baton Twirling instructor. The Pom Squad is a mix of baton and flag twirling, cheering, and dance (Lyrical /Hip Hop/Step). The Squad is expected to perform at Horizon Academy during assemblies on an early release day and during evening sporting events (basketball games, etc.). In the past we also were invited to perform at the Ocala Christmas parade, Belleview Christmas parade, “Hands are not 4 Hurting Expo and the Marion Oaks Spring Fling.

    The Pom Squad is a representation of our school and they are expected to act appropriately at all times. To become a member of the squad, they were judged on willingness to learn a routine, sportsmanship, cheerfulness and performance. To continue as a team member, students are expected to take part in practice, afterschool events and fundraisers.** Parents are also encouraged to fill out volunteer forms to be approved to assist the Squad on activities.

     We will fundraise to cover the initial costs of uniforms and equipment. If uniforms are lost or damaged, the Squad member is responsible for the replacement cost. (Estimated costs are as follows; Parade tops $35-$40, Poms $30, Baton $30, Flag $20, Pole $15 Cheer Performance Uniform $30)

    We will have practice Every Wednesday that is a Full school day.

    From dismissal (2:30 pm) to 4:30pm

    Please remember to bring a change of clothes. No Spaghetti straps or Short shorts! Squad members must also have sneakers on.
