Classroom Rules & Behavior

  • There are five classroom rules for students to follow:

    • We listen when others are speaking.
    • We raise our hand to speak or to leave our seat.
    • We follow directions the first time.
    • We treat others the way we want to be treated.
    • We always do our best.

These rules help us stay on track, so that we can make the most out of class time.

To give you an idea of what your child’s day was like and to alert you to any issues, we use a clip chart system. Every day, your child will start off on ‘green.’ If s/he makes good choices and follows the class rules, s/he can move up one level to ‘blue.’ On the other hand, if your child is having trouble following the rules, s/he would move down to ‘orange,’ and finally ‘red.’ (Please do not expect your child to be on ‘blue’ most days. Being on ‘blue’ means that your child had a truly outstanding day or went out of their way to show kindness to others.) A behavior calendar will be kept in your child’s folder showing the color your child earns each day. Please initial next to your child’s color each day on their calendar, so I know you have seen it. Thanks!
