Please make sure your child is reading for a MINIMUM of 20 minutes a night. We have a reading goal of 1,000,000 words read for the year and expect everyone to achieve it since everyone is able to read at his/her reading level! Students are also expected to keep a nightly Reading Log documenting and reflecting on they read! :0)
1st nine weeks' goal: 250,000 words read
2nd nine weeks' goal: 500,000 words read
3rd nine weeks' goal: 750,000 words read
4th nine weeks' goal: 1,000,000 words read
Words read DO roll over to the next nine weeks! I encourage my children to find something they love and go for it! I will let you know when AR is up and running, but students should be reading NOW! We have been working on informational essays using evidence and elaboration. We have also been working on strong verbs and adjectives, personification, and using dialogue in our writing.
