Please make sure your child is reading for a MINIMUM of 20 minutes a night. We have a reading goal of 1,000,000 words read for the year and expect everyone to achieve it since everyone is able to read at his/her reading level! Students are also expected to keep a nightly Reading Log documenting and reflecting on they read! :0)


    1st nine weeks' goal: 250,000 words read

    2nd nine weeks' goal: 500,000 words read

    3rd nine weeks' goal: 750,000 words read

    4th nine weeks' goal: 1,000,000 words read


    Words read DO roll over to the next nine weeks! I encourage my children to find something they love and go for it! I will let you know when AR is up and running, but students should be reading NOW! Starting this week, students will be expected to keep a reading log!     We have been working on informational essays using evidence and elaboration. We have also been working on strong verbs and adjectives, personification, and using dialogue in our writing.
