Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Kara McCullough
Welcome Parents & Students to the 2017-2018 School Year at MOES!
My name is Kara McCullough and I am so excited to be your teacher this year! I have BIG plans for a creative, fun, and successful school year. I welcome you, parents, to communicate with me as often as you need and know that I am here for you just as much as I am for your child!
I am new to Marion County schools but not new to teaching. I moved home here to Florida last year from Mississippi where I taught in various roles since 2013 and also worked as a paraprofessional since 2011. I hold a Masters degree (MEd) in Teaching & Learning with a concentration in Special Education (or Exceptional Student Education ESE) from Liberty University. I have taught kindergarten through 8th grade but primarily have taught Kindergarten through 2nd grade. I live with my wife and 3 furbabies (dogs) in Citrus County on a lake where we enjoy a quiet and peaceful life. We have 6 children (between us) and 8 grandbabies! Yep, there are 8! 😊
So, what can you expect this year for your child? My daily goal is to create a safe and stable learning environment that supports routine and love. Our classroom will be one of community where ALL belong, are accepted, and teamwork is a focus. I ground my classroom in a solid classroom/behavior management plan so that each student can be and do their best. We will have strict routines and guidelines. Before becoming a teacher, I worked professionally as a case manager and counselor with children and youth in the child welfare system and also hold a degree in Psychology. This background has really helped me to understand human behavior and given me insight into these beautiful little minds.
