    ESSENTIAL QUESTION: How does keyboarding accurately impact your ability to utilize current technology in the work place?

    Please Note: Schedule change requests will not begin until Monday, August 20th. So no, you may not go and see a counselor. They will be in the auditorium taking care of kids who do not have any classes.

    Pretest - We will take the pretest for DIT. 

    BELLWORK:

    1. Introduce yourself to the person next to you.

    2. Ask them their name and have them tell you one thing about them.

    3. Say one nice thing to them.

    4. Be prepared to introduce them to the class and share what they shared with you 

    5. Make sure you put your answers in your One Note located in Office 365 on your MCPS Desktop Portal

    TODAY:

    We will work in Moodle eMarion online class. We will start learning how to properly keyboard without looking at the keys.

      1. Go to your desktop portal and click on Moodle eMarion 

      2. Watch the Keyboarding Video - if you need earphones please let me know prior to watching the video.

      3. When you have completed watching the video take the Proper Keyboarding Quiz.

    ESSENTIAL QUESTION: How do I set up my computer station so I can work on all of the programs required for this class?

    1. Use one computer wipe to clean your key board, mouse (bottom too), and monitor.

    2. See if you can log in.

    ESSENTIAL QUESTION: What informationis in the Student Handbook that I should know for this year?

    If you do not have a white schedule you will need to go to the auditorium. If you lost yours you will need to go to attendance for a copy.

    I have a seating chart so if I missed you when you came in, please see me so I can direct you to your correct seat. This helps me get to know your names.

    TODAY:

    We will learn all about Forest High School's rules and procedures to "Make it Count". Follow the Wildcat Way: Be on Time, Be Respectful, Be Prepared. We will learn about "The Rock" so all of these rules and procedures, make all things available to you, so you may have the best year ever.

    1. You should have your white schedule with you.

    2. If you have a blank period you will report to the auditorium during that time.

    3. Period 18 is zero period. 

    4. Period 19 is 7th period.

    5. If I do not have a schedule for you, I will ask you to report to the auditorium.

    Describe three things that you learned today about FH that surprised you and why?

    PROCEDURES:

    Restroom Procedures:

    • Only 1 person at a time may use the restroom.

    • You may leave your seat to go sign out but you must let me know you are leaving. Make sure I acknowledge your request.

    • Sign out on the paper located on the filing cabinet at the front of the room near the white board.

    • Note the time you are leaving and take the flip flop with you as your pass. (You must have the pass with you or it is not considered approved to leave)

    • Sign in when you return and note the time you returned.

    • If you are gone more than 20 minutes I consider this skipping, and you will be given a referral.

    • Restroom time is for the restroom only. Both the girls and the boys bathroom is just down the hall so you have no reason to be wandering the halls. 

    • Be mindful that others need to use the restroom pass so take no more than 10 minutes.

    TARDIES:

    • If you are late to school you must go to attendance and login to the KIOSK. This will register that you are tardy. 

    • Your teacher may also put a tardy into the computer, so make sure you are on time.

    • If you have three tardies in the nine weeks you will be given a warning that the fourth tardy will result in a referral. You will receive ISS.

    • Let's be on time.

    DISMISSAL PROCEDURES:

    • I will let you know when it is time to stop working and to log off your computer. DO NOT Shut Down because students in the next classes will be using the computers.

    • DO NOT gather at the door. It is important to be clear of the door for safety reasons. When the bell rings you may quietly get up from your seat, push in your chair, then exit the classroom.

    ABOUT THIS CLASS:

    • Let's go over the syllabus

    • My syllabus is online however, if you wish to have a paper copy I can print one out for you.

    • This is a technology class and 90% of what we do is on the computer. If you have problems and do not have a lot of experience on the computer, please let me know right away because I don't want you to fall behind.

    • This is a fast-paced course so if you find yourself falling behind please let me know so I can help you get caught up.

    HOW ARE YOU GETTING HOME?

    • If you take the bus remember you must have your bus route slip that the bus driver or school personnel gave you. 

    • If you have a bus change bank or were a car rider this morning then you must have a bus slip to load the bus in the afternoon.

    • You have 5 minutes to get to your bus. Administrators will be available to assist you if you don't know where to go.

    2. Work on GMetrix Word Review(s) Training. There are 3 of them. Look for the ones that say "Review". If you know how to do that particular number skip it and then do the next one. This will not count as a grade, it is so you can be prepared to take the certification test next class.

    3. If you are going to take the Excel Certification test please get with me and I have some study notes for you.

    4. Please take the PowerPoint Skill Review 1 Training in GMetrix 

    5. Make sure you have completed and uploaded the Practice PowerPoint LEOCE located on the assignment section of this website. When you have completed it please upload it to schoology.com

    Due Date: must complete at least one - two training so the test isn't a complete shock because you have forgotten everything.

    I will also complete GMetrix practice for Word 2016, Excel 2016, and PowerPoint 2016 so I can become certified. I know employers take notice if I am certified.

    Note: Senior Exams LEOCE:

    Monday, May 7th - Period 5

    Tuesday, May 8th - Periods 4 & 6

    Wednesday, May 9th - Periods 1 & 3

    Thursday, May 10th - Period 2

    Please note: You will need to take the LEOCE for Excel and PowerPoint and on the above dates you will take the multiple choice part of the LEOCE. 

    The rest of you will be taking the LEOCE for Excel and PowserPoint and at the end of the year based on the dates below you will take the multiple choice LEOCE test.

    Test Dates for Underclassmen:

    Monday, May 21st - Period 5

    Tuesday, May 22nd - Periods 4 & 6

    Wednesday, May 23rd - Periods 1 & 3

    Thursday, May 24th - Period 2

    Note: Check the grade book. Make sure you have completed all of your assignments. E-mail me if I missed that you made it up. 

    Please Note: If I gave you paperwork for the Certification testing you will need to get it to me ASAP because it takes 10 days to get approved.

    We will continue working in GMetrix however, we will be working in Excel 2016 so we can be certified in Excel 2016. We will earn certification in the three Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint to be a certified Mocrosoft Office Specialist.

    New Assignment:

    1. You are going to take the LEOCE Excel Test today. 

    2. You have done this same scenerio three times now so you should be able to do it.
