Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Amelia Piperato
Thank you for visiting our classroom website. I am so excited to be a pre-k teacher at Marion Oaks Elementary. I have been with MCPS for 20 years and have had many roles during my time here. I have my Master's Degree in Education with an endorsement in Autism, and a board certification Behavior Analysis. I am a proud parent of one daughter and three beautiful granchildren. Unfortunately, I don't get to see them very often as my son-in-law is a Marine and they move often. They are currently in Hawaii!
Marion County Public Schools implements a wonderful curriculum called Beyond Centers and Circle Time in all of their pre-k classrooms. This curriculum is play-based and is designed to create loving, playful, and stimualting experiences for young children. It is research based through 25 years of data collected on children with and without disabilities. Our classroom is blended, so we have students with and without disabilities. The research and longitudinal follow-up supporting this curriculum has shown that when children successfully master the stages of play they are developmentally guided toward success in reading, writing, and math skills.
I hope you will take the time to enage in our fun and interesting monthly themes. Children with engaged parents tend to do well in school. Check the website each month for a new theme and information on how you can be involved with your child's learning experiences. It is a privilege to be working with your child.
